Here’s another pretty big release for October 23! Michelle Hodkin’s second book in her Mara Dyer series, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, is sounding pretty awesome. While I haven’t had a chance to read the first book in the series, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, I’ve heard a lot of great things about it and have the series on my radar. I’m very interested in finding out what happened to Mara the night at the old asylum that left her traumatized and her friends dead, so I need to check out Unbecoming before I even pick up Evolution. The phrase, “She once believed she could run from her past,” though, intrigues me greatly so I think I’m going to have to move Unbecoming up my mental reading list a bit so I can dive into Evolution and find out what it means.
While the series is marketed as a young adult paranormal, I’ve heard rumblings that it is actually more romance than paranormal. After viewing the trailer above it certainly looks like a romance with some suspense elements rather than a paranormal, but since I enjoy all those genres I think I’ll be happy with whatever direction it takes.
