I don’t normally post on Saturdays, but I just wanted to let everyone know about a few updates to RiffsAndReviews that have recently occurred.

I am dropping “The Bookworm” from my book review titles and replacing it with simply “Review.”  This will make it easier for readers to know exactly what they are getting with that post.  “The Bookworm” is going to become an end-of-month column that will highlight some book releases for the upcoming month that I am looking forward to, as well as any other book-related news I may come across.  I am very excited about this, since it will give me the opportunity to get the word out about some books that I may not be able to review right away but that readers may find interesting.

There have also been some minor tweaks to my site’s appearance, namely the new navigation menu at the top.  This will make all my columns easily accessible – just click on the category to see the posts I have written about that topic.  If you are strictly interested in movie reviews, click on “Movie Monday” and you can see them all in one place.  Since book-related items have become the biggest part of this site, I now have a special tab called “The Reading Corner” where all my reviews and “The Bookworm” (mentioned above) can be found.  Since I wanted to highlight debut authors, I created a special category called simply “Debut Authors” for my reviews of those books.  Those reviews will also be cross-referenced under “Book Reviews” – I just wanted to make them a little more visible.

Lastly, there have been some small tweaks to the sidebar – more opportunities to follow me have been added, the “Categories” section has been removed in favor of the menu at the top, and the “Archives” section has become a drop-down menu to save space. Also, be sure to check out the links I’ve added for a few of my favorite sites.

I’m hoping these will be the last changes to the site for a while, and that they make navigating it easier for everyone.  Please let me know if you encounter any problems by clicking on the “Contact” tab and filling out the form, or by leaving a comment below.

I will be doing a special edition of “The Bookworm” on Tuesday to kick things off and highlight a couple of books coming out the last week of April.  At the end of the month, I’ll start the regular edition of “The Bookworm – and get ready because May is filled with new book releases!
